Game Preview

Staying on the east coast, the Kalamazoo Wings head to New Jersey to battle the Trenton Devils. Including tonight, the K-Wings and Devils will meet five times this season, with three of the contests played at the Sovereign Bank Arena.

Earning their first ECHL victory on Thursday with a 4-1 victory against the Reading Royals, the K-Wings will continue their three-game road swing tonight in the first of two straight encounters against the Devils. Kalamazoo will conclude their two-game stretch versus Trenton tomorrow afternoon.

After being idle for the first two nights of the regular season, Trenton will open up their season. This evening will also commence a three-game home stand for the Devils. Last season, the Devils went 40-25-2-5 and finished second in the North Division.

Getting Out of the Gate

So far this season, the K-Wings have been able to get off to quick starts. Including the preseason, Kalamazoo has registered goals in the first two minutes in two of their three games.

Colbert Assigned to Kalamazoo

Defenseman Will Colbert was assigned to the K-Wings on Thursday by the Worcester Sharks. In his first pro game, Colbert recorded an assist during the K-Wings 4-1 victory.

Lighting the Lamp

Forward Darryl Lloyd scored two of the K-Wings four goals on opening night. Lloyd’s two goal outburst is the most by a K-Wings player on opening night since the 2006-07 season, when former K-Wing B.J. Radovich notched a pair against the Elmira Jackals.

Homecoming

Opening weekend has been a homecoming for defenseman David Sloane. A native of Ambler, Pennsylvania, Sloane recorded his first pro point last Thursday against Reading.
