Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks, announce its roster for the 2009-2010 training camp, which commences tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

The K-Wings begin camp with 31 players, with one player (David Sloane-Philadelphia) currently assigned from the organization’s National Hockey League affiliates, the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks.  Nearly half (15 players) of the K-Wings roster attended an AHL training camp.

Starting training camp, Kalamazoo will dress 16 forwards, 13 defenseman and two goaltenders.

Up front the K-Wings will possess a lot of experience. Forwards Bryan Marshall and Bryan Mcguirk spent a majority of last season in the American Hockey League. Marshall rang up 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) in 50 games last year with the Lake Erie Monsters, while Mcguirk has played all 66 career games with the Syracuse Crunch.

For the first-time in K-Wings history, brother will be coaching brother, as Nick Bootland’s younger sibling Darryl Bootland comes to Kalamazoo after spending last season with Salzburg EC (Austria). A former draft selection of the Colorado Avalanche, Bootland has played 32 games in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings and New York Islanders.

After spending the past four seasons in Europe, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native Tomas Sinisalo returns to North America to play for the K-Wings.

Adding to the K-Wings offensive arsenal will be Mathieu Curadeau. The talented forward split last season with the Fort Wayne Komets (IHL) and Norfolk Admirals (AHL).

Kalamazoo has also added youth to their training camp roster with the additions of Jordan Grant and Steve McClellen. Grant spent last season with University of Guelph, while McClellen did not play last year, but will also seen time at the blue-line.

Earlier this off-season, the K-Wings already announce that forwards Rick Cleaver, Trent Daavettila, Andrew Fournier, Sam Ftorik, Brian Jurynec, Anton Kharin, Olivier Legault, Darryl Lloyd and Sean O’Conner would be participating in training camp.

Inquiring some ECHL experience to their blue-line, the K-Wings have added Blake Friesen and Tom Morrow. Friesen played last season with the Idaho Steelheads. Morrow, who is the tallest K-Wing in camp at 6-7, spent last year with the Bakersfield Condors.

After spending the past four years in Hamilton, New York at Colgate University, David Sloane enters his first full pro season with the K-Wings. Sloane was acclimated to the professional hockey by a playing a game with the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) and Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL). Sloane is the first native of Philadelphia to suit up for the Flyers.

Rookies Nick Jones, Zack Shepley, and Mitch Versteeg will be entering their first professional training camp. Jones played last year at Babson College, Shepley was a member of the OHL’s Brampton Battalion and Versteeg was in the WHL with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Earlier this summer, the K-Wings announced defensemen Devin Featherstone, Matt Krug, Jon Landry, Jeff Mason and Jeremy Swanson will be attending training camp.

Rounding out the training camp roster will be goaltender Julien Ellis. A former draft selection of the Vancouver Canucks, Ellis spent last season with the Victoria Salmon Kings (ECHL) and Manitoba Moose (AHL). Ellis joins Ryan Nie as the K-Wings other netminder in camp.
