Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce goaltender Ryan Nie has been selected the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for October 19th-25th.
Going a perfect 2-0-0-0 last weekend, Nie helped the K-Wings join the Elmira Jackals and Idaho Steelheads as the last three undefeated teams in the ECHL.
Nie was spectacular stopping 57 out of 60 shots he faced. The native of Naticoke, Ontario finished the weekend sweep of the Reading Royals with a goal-against-average of 1.47 and a save percentage of 0.950.
Overall, Nie is 3-0-0-0, which ties him for the league-lead in wins. Ryan is also second in the ECHL with 0.957 save percentage and third with a GAA of 1.32.
With a record of 5-0-0-0, Kalamazoo will be back in action this Friday, October 30th with a 7:35 p.m. battle on the road against the Wheeling Nailers.
The K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium this Saturday, October 31st for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Toledo Walleye during the 6th Annual Orange Ice Game. Fans are encouraged to wear their costumes for trick-or-treating and a special costume contest.
