Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to The Annex and The Cube and home of the 2010 USA Curling National Championships, announces the center button on five sheets for the upcoming national championships are now available for purchase on E-Bay.
A curling sheet is 46 yards long and 14 feet wide. On either end is a house painted into the ice with concentric circles. In the center is the button, the ultimate goal. Curlers attempt to slide the stones as close as possible to the button.
Not only can individuals be a part of the event purchasing tickets, the can now place purchase a button(s) and leave a lasting mark for the upcoming USA National Championships.
Winning bids on e-bay will received a set of buttons (two), which will both be18 inches in diameter and two tickets to the opening day of the USA National Championships.
Last month, the Michigan House of Representatives declared Saturday, March 6th as Go Curling Day, which coincides with the start of the 2010 USA Curling National Championships, which will hosted by the Wings Stadium Complex March 6th-13th.
Last year, the city of Kalamazoo and Wings Stadium were selected to host the annual event that this year occurs the week following 2010 Winter Olympics. In total 20 of the best men’s (10) and women’s (10) teams will head to southwest Michigan to via for the opportunity to represent the United States in the World Championships later this year.
The 2010 USA Curling Nationals hopes to bring in over 20,000 spectators to Wings Stadium to witness the event. It is estimated that over one million dollars will be contributed to the southwest Michigan economy as a result.
The USA Curling Nationals appearance in Kalamazoo is fitting, as the first curling club in the United States was formed in Michigan and curled on Orchard Lake in 1831. Now, there are eight clubs in Michigan, including the Kalamazoo Curling Club.

Stadium Management Company owns the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. The Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and can seat up to 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
