Goaltender Ryan Nie Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce goaltender Ryan Nie has been selected the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 1st-March 7th.

Seeing action in all four games, Nie went an incredible 3-0-1-0 last weekend.

Nie was stellar stopping 125 out of 139 shots he faced. The native of Naticoke, Ontario finished the weekend with a goal-against-average of 3.42 and a save percentage of 0.899.

Overall, Nie is 21-9-2-1. The 21 victories ties Nie for the league-lead in wins. Ryan is also tied for second in the ECHL with three shutouts. On the season, Nie has a 0.908 save percentage with a GAA of 2.95.  

This is the second-time this season Nie has captured the weekly honor. Nie’s first weekly award occurred the week of October 19th-25th.

Kalamazoo will continue their season-high seven-game road swing this Friday, March 12th with a 7:35 p.m. face-off at the First Arena against the Elmira Jackals.  

The K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium on Wednesday, March 17th with a 7 p.m. encounter versus the Wheeling Nailers during the 29th Annual “World Famous” St. Patrick’s Day Green Ice Game, presented by Fifth-Third Bank and WWMT.
