The Annex
Our second ice arena had its grand opening on September 6, 1989. The arena provides a complete ice facility for many youth skating programs. The principal patrons of the Annex are the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association (KOHA), the Greater Kalamazoo Skating Association (GKSA), the Southwest Michigan High School Hockey League (SWMHSHL) and the Wings Stadium Adult Hockey League (WSAHL).
This venue has also hosted a variety of special events, such as: The Flower & Garden Show, Motorcycle Swap Meet, the Arts & Crafts Show, KOHA Early Bird Tournament, High School Hockey District Tournament, the Kalamazoo Boat Dealers Association Boat Sale, the WQXC Cool 101 New Year’s Eve Bash and various catered parties and banquets.
The Annex offers a spacious, heated viewing area overlooking the ice and includes a full-service concession stand which is available during operating hours. For sit-down dining check-out the Old Burdick’s Bar & Grill which features a full bar and family friendly food options.
Public Skating and Open Hockey sessions are offered at the Annex on a weekly basis with over 250 pairs of figure and hockey skates available for rental. The bleacher seats are fully retractable for hosting events other than those on ice. The seating capacity is 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events.
